MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Diamond rings, collectible stamps and coins and gold pendants are among the unclaimed property that the state of Wisconsin is selling over eBay starting Monday.
The treasurer's office routinely holds eBay auctions of property that has been left unclaimed in safety deposit boxes for more than seven years. Money raised from the sale is held for the rightful owners indefinitely.
State Treasurer Dawn Marie Sass says the auction is being held to make more room in the vault for more unclaimed property. She says auctions will be held once a month.
Some of the coins to be auctioned off include pennies from 1800, 1818 and 1831.
A list of all the items to be sold can be found at www.statetreasury.wisconsin.gov.
