Officials have finally contacted the 19-year-old victim of what was believed to be an attempted abduction. After following up with the Wausau woman earlier Friday, police say her original story has drastically changed.
The original story was reported as the young woman saying she was driving home from work Wednesday night, was cut off of Northwestern Road by an unknown man, who then proceeded to pull her out of her car with a gun. It was only after a passerby stopped to check on her that she got away, according to her first complaint.
Now, the story has changed entirely.
"We believe that there was not an abduction attempt, there was not a weapon used, and not a good samaritan, none of that happened," says Detective Steve Meilahn, Everest Metro Police Department.
Friday, the woman told Everest officials that she was only cut off while in her car. Officials say they're no longer looking for a suspect and their investigation is over at this point.
