Seven people are behind bars in connection to heroin bust in Waushara County. The arrests took place at two separate residences- one in Redgranite and another in the nearby Town of Dakota. The bust comes on the heals of a major push by law enforcement to educate the public about the dangers of heroin.
Waushara County Sheriff David Peterson tells WLUK-TV, a significant amount of heroin was seized during the raids along with drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.
The names of suspects won't be released until formal charges are filed.
Sheriff Peterson tells WLUK-TV due to the growing problem of heroin use a town meeting will be held July 11th at the Redgranite Village Hall.
Like Waushara County, Marathon County is also seeing an increase in heroin abuse. NewsChannel 7's Elizabeth Schilder took a closer at what law enforcement and health leaders are doing to educate the public. To view that story Click here.
