The DNR is reminding you that the ice is dangerous, after a local man's truck broke through Lake Wausau.
The truck broke through the ice near the Eagle's Club landing in Wausau at about 1 this afternoon. The driver says within seconds of cracking the ice, his truck was already up to the windows in water.
Fortunately the driver and his passenger were able to escape through the windows unharmed, but the truck wasn't so lucky. It had to be pulled out by a tow truck.
The DNR says accidents like these occur every year around this time, and people should be careful whenever they drive onto a lake.
"Each year we tell people, early ice especially, you have to be careful. Its up to each person when they decide to go on the ice. There is no set inches or ice we deem as safe. Ice is always dangerous," said Warden Ben Herzfeld.
The event is being ruled an accident, but the trucks owner will still be paying for it. It can cost more than $1,000 to pull a vehicle out of the lake.

I suppose once again Daddy will bail him out. Mitch, please get your head on straight. First the incident at Cabaret, then the restraining order from Tamara and now this? Grow up dude.
I laughed so hard when I read who the driver was, I almost blew a nose buble. He and his brother must be Wausau's best known idiots. The other brother, Mike just got out of prison for rape, the other is just a plain doofus. I'm sure John and Suzanne, the parents, are sooooooo proud of both of them.
