WSAW-TV NewsChannel 7 kicked off it’s 7th Annual “Share Your Holidays” food drive this year with the Wausau Holiday Parade. NewsChannel 7 personalities collected non-perishable food items and cash from parade goers during their walk along the route. In the two weeks that followed, donations poured in. As of 5pm on Friday the 18th, a total of $41,600 had been raised and a room at the station had been filled with food.
This year, as in past years, NewsChannel 7 partnered with River Valley Bank to handle all monetary donations. In addition, River Valley bank matched the all the donations collected up to five thousand dollars. In the seven years that Share Your Holidays has been running, cash donations have totaled over $130,000 dollars.
Matching Donations also increased this year as well. The Dudley Foundation stepped in and agreed to match $10,000 and the Halvorsen Family added $5,000 to the matching fund pool. This brought the total of matching contributions up to $20,000.
