Gov. Jim Doyle announced technology tax credits for two local companies Tuesday. It's part of his “grow Wisconsin” initiative.
Skyward Incorporated will receive $300,000 to expand its company and create 48 new jobs. Stora Enso will get $22,000 to train its employees on high-tech equipment.
Doyle says focusing on established Wisconsin companies will keep the state's economy strong.
"We're going to keep working to bring new companies here, but we don't want to ignore the great companies that are here, helping them expand and grow right here in Wisconsin.”
Opponents question how the state can afford to spend $300,000, but Doyle said it's an investment that will garner millions of dollars for the state.
