Cousineau Auto Recycling in Weston has been recognized by the Department of Natural Resources for the way they treat the environment.
The State DNR Board paid a special visit to the company to point out why the company is a prime example of an environmentally safe business.
The DNR say their goal of the visit at Cousineau Auto was to take a closer look into the auto recycling industry. Members of the board toured the grounds of the company and discussed issues such as how to safely dismantle a car.
"There's an awful lot of things associated with dismantling a vehicle from gas to oils to antifreeze that could contaminate ground water," says Mark Harings, DNR representative.
Cousineau employees say they're constantly meeting state mandates by testing ground water, preventing storm water run-off, and recycling.
The DNR board will continue their meeting in Wausau Wednesday with a look at new regulations on deer baiting and feeding.
