In November of 2003, nearly 200,000 students in 4th, 8th and 10th grades were tested in five different subjects. The final results categorize students into minimal, basic, proficient, or advanced levels in each subject.
Officials at the Mosinee School District say they're pleased with their students' performance, but there's much more to their district's curriculum than the tests.
"There's a whole lot we teach beyond the standards, the state standards cover the bare minimum of what is really covered in schools," says Jerry Rosso, Mosinee Superintendent.
Overall, Mosinee students tested above average in everything except math, where they performed just slightly below average.
