Investigators say a fatal crash Monday should not have happened.
Officers were out Tuesday on Highway 51 near Rib Mountain evaluating the crash. The four-vehicle accident happened around 3 p.m. Monday.
The State Patrol said a semi truck drove into a line of cars that were backed up because of construction. One man from Land O’ Lakes died and four other people were injured. Troopers shut down the highway for give hours because the crash was so severe.
“We’re going to do some reconstruction work and enter data into a computer and virtually re-create the accident and see how it actually occurred,” said Capt. Jeffery Frenetta with the State Patrol.
The State Patrol needs more than technology to put this case together, though. They need your help.
“People in the crash are helping out, but we need other drivers in both lanes to tell us anything they saw. Witness information is very important in situations like this so they to call,” Frenetta said.
