Crime in Wisconsin is down for the ninth time in the past ten years. That's according to the state office of justice assistance, and despite how easy it would be to take at least some credit for it, Wausau's police chief says he isn't.

Chief Bill Brandimore says the type of people living here is the main reason why crime is low, and that makes his job much easier to do.

"When they're not committing crimes to begin with it makes it a lot easier to travel to our normal duties and focus a little more on traffic and service," said Chief Bill Brandimore of the Wausau Police Department.

Overall, crime in Wisconsin was down 4.6 percent in 2003 from 2002.
