A man charged for calling in a bomb threat while robbing a Merrill drug store has been arrested on similar charges in Shawano County.
48-year-old Daniel Laughnan was sentenced Monday to 4 years in the Wisconsin State Prison system for calling the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department March 15 with a bomb threat at the Wal-Mart store in Merrill, shortly before robbing the Aurora Pharmacy in Merrill.
The Shawano County Sheriff says Laughnan has now been arrested for a similar robbery in Wittenberg in January. That's when the Sheriff's Department says they received a bomb threat at the new Hochunk Casino. Later that night the Gwidt Pharmacy was robbed by a man claiming to have a bomb.
The Sheriff says when Laughnan was arrested for the robbery in Merrill, bomb making evidence was sent to the State Crime Lab in Madison. According to the Sheriff that information gave sufficient evidence to tie him to the Wittenberg robbery as well.
Laughnan is expected to be formally charged for the Wittenberg robbery next week in Shawano County.
