Ready to Read

A magician, plenty of treats and lots of little kids were at the Marathon County Library Saturday, kicking off an important program.

The Ready to Read program promotes the importance of reading to babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children, and is now off and running in central Wisconsin.

"Even if it's just holding books and turning the pages and listening to someone pronounce the words, this is what stirs the brain activity in young children," said Judy Beier, Ready to Read volunteer.

The Ready to Read program is distributing 18,000 books to Marathon County families with kids under the age of five.
