LODI, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin soldier injured in the Fort Hood shootings is home for the holidays, making Thanksgiving all the more special for his family.
Army Reserve Specialist Grant Moxon was shot in the leg in the November 5 shootings. He was supposed to go to Afghanistan next month with his Madison-based 467th Medical Detachment to counsel soldiers, but that trip is off as he recovers.
Moxon is spending Thanksgiving with his family at their home in Lodi, just north of Madison. His parents say having him home safe gives them a lot to be thankful for.
Moxon says being home helps him recover from both physical and emotional injuries. The 23-year-old saw three of his friends killed in the shooting rampage.
