The fishing season is underway and it's a safe bet there are a lot of happy anglers with a fish tale or two to tell.
But there are also serious safety concerns anglers need to keep in mind to make sure a lazy day fishing doesn't turn into a tragic one.
The Department of Natural Resources has put a list of guidelines that all boaters, whether they're fishing or not, should follow this year.
"Make sure everybody has the life jackets they're supposed to have in the boat. Check their fire extinguishers, check the safety equipment. If they're gonna be out dark, which is when a lot of people fish, that they have their boat lights with them," said Mike MacKenzie, Conservation Officer.
