Despite heated controversy from all directions, the stage is set for big changes to downtown Wausau.
During a City Council meeting Tuesday night, members gave final approval for a $17 million Jefferson Street parking ramp.
It will include 18,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. But, the council also voted to not immediately include a rooftop hotel or condominium complex.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the ramp is set for next Monday. Construction should then begin next month.
