A local center is helping kids discover all of their senses through hands-on learning.

Sunday families gathered at the Children's Discovery Center in Stevens Point, to find out different ways kids can engage their minds. Children and their parents worked together to make art projects, which helps them stimulate all of their senses.

"They have the opportunity to work with their families to create a sensory bottle to see what happens when you mix water and oil together," said Program Coordinator April Niemi.

Each station at the learning center is designed specifically for different age groups, allowing each child to build skills appropriate for their own level of development.

"From six weeks to six years, each of the classrooms provide weekly lesson plans that the teachers have developed appropriate activities for them to engage in," said Director of Childhood Development Carla Kluz.

The open house concluded with a discovery of music, where the kids could play different instruments and move to the beat.
