Donating just one pint of blood is enough to save three of four lives.
One local man has been doing his part to help people for the last half century.
Today, was his 201 donation.
"I always feel better after I do it. I get rid of that old stuff in my body," says Tony Hiebl.
After making 200 donations at the Blood Center of North Central Wisconsin, Thursday was just like any other day for Tony Hiebl.
Over the years Tony has donated more than 25 gallons of blood, that fills four shelves at the blood center's refrigerator.
That's more than 600 people whose lives he's made better.
"It's something I look forward to. I wanted to keep donating until I reached the 25 gallons and I'm just gonna keep on donating," says Hiebl.
Tony is one of many consistent donors.
"The Midwest is known for having dedicated blood donors. If we are short on a certain blood type, we call people and they do respond and they do come in," says Diane Carlson with the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin.
And according to Tony, there's nothing to it.
"I don't mind it. I used to like coming to the blood bank, it used to be called the Marathon County Blood Bank, because we used to get real beer," says Hiebl.
He didn't get a cold one, but he did get something sweet to honor his achievement.
All donations at the Blood Center of North Central Wisconsin go to people in Marathon, Langlade, Taylor, and Shawano Counties.
