Bronze Bust of Joseph McCarthy Finds Home at Appleton History Museum
A bronze bust of one of the state and nation's most controversial politicians has found a home in Wisconsin.

A bronze bust of one of the state and nation's most controversial politicians has found a home in Wisconsin.
Joseph McCarthy, born and raised on a farm in the Appleton area, was accused as a senator of making reckless and false claims during the nation's 1950's anti-Communist crusade.
For decades, finding a home for the statue has been tough.
It sat in the Outagamie Courthouse until 2001, then was taken down and put into storage.
It was donated to Appleton's History Museum, where the bust was on display from 2002 to 2004 for a temporary exhibit.
The bust has been in storage since then.
Last week, the museum brought McCarthy back out for good.
The curator says numerous visitors had requsted the bust be displayed.
The exhibit is titled, "Why McCarthy?"
The curator says it tries to let people make up their own minds about the former senator.
