A Wausau soldier will spend 12 months on supervised probation for trying to solicit a child on the Internet.
19-year-old Nathan Gerum was sentenced in a Kansas Court today.
According to a report, he plead guilty to two counts of unlawful voluntary sexual relations earlier this month.
He was originally sentenced to 8 months behind bars for each count, but it was suspended, and he was given the probation instead.
Kansas authorities say Gerum was stations at Fort Riley, Kansas, when he was caught trying to solicit sex in an undercover Internet sting operation in August.
A Kansas newspaper reports he was to be deployed overseas 9 days later.
