Parents preparing their kids for college are getting some extra help, thanks to a mentoring program.
"Pathway Partners" allows students to shadow adults in careers they're interested in.
More than two months into the school year a mentoring program helping students in Marshfield is still looking for volunteers.
"Right now, we have 40 matches and 29 students on a waiting list for mentors," says Leah Boon, Director of Pathway Partners.
The Director of Pathway Partners is helping students pursue their dreams.
The program is funded by the United Way, and operates out of Marshfield High School.
"There's some students in human services executive directors, we have students that are matched with dietary aids at the clinic," says Boon.
High School Senior Janel Vantassel is shadowing a director at Marshfield Clinic, in hopes of becoming a dietitian.
"When she told me what kind of dietitian do you want to be and I was like, I only knew that there was one I just wanted to be a dietitian, I don't know, so it was really nice that she opened up that I have more to look into and possibilities," says Janel Vantassel, a Marshfield High School Senior.
Janel has met with her mentor, Renee Vanhoff for more than a year.
She learned what classes to enroll in, to prepare her for college.
"When she helps me with volunteering she says these are the things I wish people did for me. So it's really nice for people to be there along the way," says Vantassel.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer you can call (715) 387-8464.
If you want to become a volunteer you sign a 4 year commitment, and meet with a student at least once a month.
