Police Propose Fees for Loud Bars

Updated: Thu 6:14 PM, Jul 25, 2002

Wausau Police Chief Bill Brandimore outlined a proposal for the public health department that would charge bars extra if police receive more complaints.

Bars need an entertainment license for live bands, karaoke, and other performances. The license costs $225 a year.

The proposal would make bars with more complaints pay more for their license.

Brandimore says it's only fair that bars that use more police time should pay more.

The proposal would need to be approved by the city council before it went into effect.
