Soldier Visits Area Students

Shortly after Christmas, the second grade class at Bannach Elementary School came up with an idea.

"To write letters to soldiers," says second grader Andrew Ogden.

The students took part in a mail call, sending letters to our troops. Two male students, Zachary and Jesse, wrote a letter to SGT Scott Molle from the 1158 Transportation Company out of Black River Falls. Molle was on active duty in Ft. Irwin California throughout the last year. He says he was surprised to hear from the students.

"I see this Bannach School and I started reading it, it was cute," says SGT Molle.

Molle decided to write the students back, and within a month, the class received his official word. The SGT's letter encouraged students to keep reaching for their goals and that he was happy to hear from them.

For some of the students, it was the first time meeting a soldier face to face. The visit has inspired some students to join the military when they get a little older.
