The Red Cross and the Langlade County Sheriff's Department would also like to pass along some important safety reminders.

First, the Sheriff's Department says many people are coming out to take a look at the flooding. They're asking everyone to stay in their homes as long as it is safe since too many residents near the flooding is hindering their rescue and recovery efforts.

If your home is beginning to flood, police warn not to go down and investigate the water. Instead, stay on an upper-level of your home. Don't try driving through floodwaters.

Since cars can be swept away in only two feet of water and throw away all food that has come into contact with flood waters.

Contaminated floodwater contains bacteria and germs.
