One State Representative is pledging not to drink and drive and he expects more to follow.
A Representative from Manitowoc is the first lawmaker to sign Lacey's Pledge.
It's in honor of 14-year-old Lacey Meinel, who was killed by a drunk driver in January.
A group of D.C. Everest High School students e-mailed 132 State Legislators yesterday, asking them not to drink and drive, and to put it in writing.
Democrat Bob Ziegelbauer was the first to respond.
He says it's a worthy cause and wants to lend his support.
"I wanted to encourage this group of obviously interested young people in their effort and it wasn't difficult to pledge because frankly I don't think I'm ever going to find myself in that situation," says Representative Bob Ziegelbauer of Manitowoc.
Ziegelbauer told us he thinks he won't be the only one to respond to the students' request, and says the State Capitol is buzzing about the pledge.
We spoke with some of the students from the Lacey's Law Committee yesterday and they're giving lawmakers until December first to sign the pledge.
They plan to publicly announce the names of lawmakers who don't sign.
They also created a similar pledge for D.C. Everest students and the community to sign.
