WIAA Releases Brackets for Wisconsin High School Football Playoffs
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has announced its brackets for the 2009 state football playoffs. In Division 1, unbeaten Stevens Point will host Oshkosh West, Wausau West will travel to undefeated Appleton North, and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln will head for Hudson.

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has announced its brackets for the 2009 state football playoffs. In Division 1, unbeaten Stevens Point will host Oshkosh West, Wausau West will travel to undefeated Appleton North, and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln will head for Hudson.
In D2, Merrill gets the #1 seed in their quadrant, while Antigo and Marshfield both travel to La Crosse. Menomonie gets the 4-seed and a home game, despite losing to Marshfield in the regular season.
D3--Lakeland travels to Osceola, while Mosinee visits defending state champion Waupaca.
In Division 4, Neillsville hits the road to Baldwin-Woodville while Nekoosa gets a home date with Mishicot.
In Division 5, defending D6 champ Stratford gets bumped up a division, and will travel to reigning D5 champ Colby. It's the 2nd year in a row Stratford will face a state champ in their first game (last year they beat Eleva-Strum.) Marathon is home against Necedah, Marion/Tigerton will play a home game wt Wittenberg-Birnamwood's field. Laona-Wabeno meets Manawa, while Northern Elite goes to Peshtigo.
D6--Thorp goes to Hurley in the top-right quadrant. In the bottom left quadrant, Edgar is the #1 seed and hosts Newman. Iola-Scandinavia travels to Coleman, Pacelli hosts Lena/St. Thomas in a 4pm kickoff at UWSP and #2-seed Wild Rose hosts Gillett.
Division 7--Athens returns to the postseason after a 5-year absence, they visit Florence. Port Edwards is the 3-seed in their quadrant, yet they have to travel to Owen-Withee. Loyal is on teh road, while Gilman is the 1-seed in the quadrant and is home.

Edgar will probably beat Newman very easily. Good Luck to them:)!! RobD39's comments on the Daily Herald's Friday article of Edgar beating Marathon are totally out of line. Seriously, go check it out--that guy just is way too upset Marathon lost to Edgar, and he needs to get over it. Edgar didn't break any rules, and I can't help it if Marathon's team wasn't prepared for plays, legal plays mind you, from Edgar that Edgar has been doing for years. It's tough to lose, but Marathon will have their day...after all, they ARE better in baseball than Edgar is. Give a little, take a little, RobD39!
