Wisconsin Congressman Dave Obey says the nation must get its priorities straight before sending additional soldiers to Afghanistan.
The Democratic lawmaker addressed the issue in front of a group in Stevens Point Monday.
Obey's remarks are in response to General Stanley McChrystal's request for President Barack Obama to send nearly 50,000 additional troops to stabilize the middle-eastern country.
Currently, more than 67,000 military personnel are battling insurgent forces, including members of the Taliban.
The White House says the President is still considering his options after already adding more than 21,000 troops in the war-torn country this year so far.
