These days fixtures can be as beautiful as they are practical. Whether it's the bathroom or the kitchen, the newest look is brushed nickel. According to the Able Kitchen and Bath Showplace of Wausau the more traditional, brassy finishes are no longer very popular.
Besides the finish, you'll have to choose from a wide assortment of styles, for example, a tall versus a shorter faucet.
"Some people like higher spouts, for washing your hair or face but maybe they like the shorter faucets to match the look of things in a powder room," says Dawn Ziegel of Able.
In the kitchen the higher arc faucets are usually made tall enough to wash your larger pots and pans with no trouble.
And Ziegel says another consideration is ease of cleaning.
"Eight-inch center faucets have a wider spread between which means there is less to clean around as compared with the four-inch center style," says Ziegel.
With so many choices on the market, it's a good idea to know your price range and have a finish in mind. The Able Kitchen and Bath Showplace can be toured for some ideas but you must make an appointment first. It is the largest Premier Kohler showroom in Wisconsin.
