Did you know that Hallmark has more than thirteen hundred different Valentine's Day cards, and 75 percent of Americans will exchange those cards on this holiday of hugs and kisses. With love in the air, local businesses are seeing a rise in sales.
Florists were cutting, arranging, and delivering from sunrise until sunset Friday. That was the scene over at Evolutions In Design in Wausau.
"For us in Wisconsin in the middle of winter, you get something really unique that you can't see growing outside right now, it's a breath of fresh air," says florist Lisa Macco, co-owner of Evolutions in Design.
Macco says their weekend profit will end up totaling six times their regular sales. That's the same scenario over at Janmar's Chocolate Emporium Inc. Their business sees a hike in sales after boxes upon boxes of chocolates are purchased. This year's hot item is chocolate strawberries.
