In Wisconsin it is illegal for same sex couples to marry, but the debate is heating up again, not just in our state, but across the country.
Thursday, 11 same-sex couples were in the Dane County clerk's office disputing the decision to not grant them marriage licenses.
Those who want the ban on gay marriage lifted say it causes problems with health insurance and inheritance issues.
But supporters of the ban say it upholds the sacred union between a man and a woman.
"It is going to affect marriage significantly," said one Debate-goer. "It's going to radically affect what marriage is and it will be looked at as little more than a basket full of government benefits."
There are currently two bills in the Wisconsin Assembly on gay marriage, one for it and one against.
