River Edge Master Plan

In 1995, the River Edge Master Plan was created. It was a ten-year layout of changes that needed to be made along the Wisconsin River's edge in Wausau. Ten years are almost up, and now the city is reviewing their progress, and future expansions.

"The overall mission is to increase the public's use and enjoyment of the Wisconsin River and it's shore lands," said Wausau City Planner, Joe Pribanich.

Since 1995, work has been done in Wausau's downtown west of the library, and over on the west side by Pick N Save. Commission members say money has not been an issue because they've received financial support from state grants and other sources.

Commission members say residents have requested more pedestrian bicycle improvements, possibly extending beyond the river edge.
