A local politician says he's happy where his party is sitting heading into this year's presidential election.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Dave Obey says Senators John Kerry and John Edwards appear to be qualified and strong candidates to face president bush come November.
"I think, for a change, our presidential candidates have behaved themselves," said Obey. "Instead of shooting each other, they've been laying out honestly what they think the problems are with the Bush administration."
Obey also downplayed his endorsement of Kerry making any difference in the Wisconsin primary, saying most people pay little attention to politicians' support of each other.
