The line to get in the National Armory in Wausau started at 6 a.m. even though the doors didn't open until 10.
Parents and their kids were lined up around the block waiting to get new school supplies.
The project was organized by the Marathon County Workplace Volunteers Council, and its goal was to provide new school supplies to kids who might not otherwise get them.
Kids got to pick out a backpack, and then watch as it was filled with notebooks, pencils and other school supplies.
Organizers say they were prepared for 3,000 kids, but they aren't sure if that many showed up.
All of the supplies were donated by local businesses or purchased with donated money.
