The Salvation Army of Stevens Point is just weeks away from unveiling their new and improved Hope Center.
Renovations began in April to the approximately 60 year old building.
Once it's finished, the Hope Center will have a brand new kitchen, a dining area with twice the seating capacity, and a new women's bathroom with more space for mothers and children.
The Salvation Army's volunteer coordinator says these changes will help them immensely, given the state of the economy.
"Now more than ever, we're seeing an increased demand in people coming here for meals, and now more than ever of course, there's more demand on all of our services for help from people that are not doing as well with the economy," says Bob Quam, Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Army of Stevens Point.
Quam estimates the renovations will be finished by the end of September.
A majority of the funding for the project came from community donations, but they still need your help, so if you'd like to pitch in, you can either give them a call at (715) 342-1462, or send donations to the Salvation Army at P.O. Box 271, Stevens Point, WI 54481.
