Customers will notice higher sales tax beginning on Thursday when they shop in Wood County. That's because the County's new half percent sales tax kicks in on January 1st.
The 0.5% tax is projected to raise $ 6.8 Million in Wood County in 2004.
The County Finance Director says half of that will provide direct property tax relief and the other 3.4 Million will go to fund programs that otherwise faced cuts.
