First Responders Act

The men and women who respond to crisis right here in North Central Wisconsin could soon have a voice in the proposed Department of Homeland Security.

U.S. Senator Russ Feingold was in Wausau Tuesday announcing progress on new legislation proposed for the Homeland Security Bill. The measure would create a federal liaison for each state to make sure first responders get the resources and funding needed.

In addition, each state would have a new homeland security office that would provide coordination between federal, state and local first responders.
