Is your carpet out of date or damaged from years of use? It may be time for new carpeting in your home.
You'll make a lot of decisions about your home's interior but the huge selection of carpets makes it a difficult choice. "There's just about every color available," says Floor Coverings Manager Norb Mendleski of Menards.
Mendleski says you'll want to choose carpeting with a higher face weight. That's how closely knit the fiber is and it ranges from 15 to 75 ounce face weights. Go with quality in your carpet padding as well.
"You wanna stay with a higher end, higher density padding to give the carpet better wear," says Mendleski.
Your first consideration may be where you plan to install the carpeting.
Mendleski says, "A Berber is good for high traffic and typically plushes are used for a softer feel like a living room or bedroom."
The styles are always evolving and the latest carpet look is called frieze which is like a shag but much shorter than the shag carpet of the 1970s.
