Police seized several thousand dollars worth of meth as well as another $6,000 from the three busts. They say at the beginning they were just following a man who had escaped probation but his trail led them to make six more arrests. Police say they followed the probation escapee to an apartment on 726 Franklin Street. When police went into the apartment they say they found drugs and other related items. Police would then make arrests at a vehicle and another apartment.
"Anytime you take a quantity of controlled substances off the street and take people into custody it sends a statement to the community that the use of the substances won't be tolerated," said Marathon County Deputy Chief Scott Parks.
Two of the seven people arrested were in court today. They were 21 year old joel helding and 24 year janis long. Parks says it may take some time before the other five are in court because they are already on probation and can be held longer. At the first apartment police entered they say they found a three-year-old and four-year-old. Deputy Chief Parks says the two were taken by social services and put in protective placement.
