The holidays are often spent with family but when your family is dealing with illness and disabilities, it may be time for the services of Hospice. Wausau Hospital's Comfort Care and Hospice Services will be 25 years old next month. In that time, it's helped countless people and their loved ones who will not recover from their health problems.
The support means a lot as families struggle to keep the holidays happy when dealing with terminal illnesses. Palliative care nurse, Linda Fahey says families of all sizes look to the nurses and staff for guidance and strength.
"Everybody is working toward their spiritual, their physical, their psychological care and we deal with the whole family," says Faley, "that's what they love about it."
Hospice care in Wausau is offered both at the hospital and at an eigth-bed private, Hospice House. It's usually when patients can no longer manage at home that families decide to come to the Hospice House.
