Drowning Death?

Updated: Mon 6:51 PM, Aug 05, 2002

A couple from Adams County wants to know if their son drowned or if foul play was involved in his death.

Thirty-four-year-old Steve Dragotta was found dead this weekend 16 ft. underwater near the Castle Rock Dam in Adams County.

His parents say Steve went fishing with friends Friday night. The friends told them they decided to go swimming, and that Steve just disappeared.

Search teams recovered the body early Saturday.

Steve's parents say he was an avid fisherman but he did not like to swim and knew the water near the dam was dangerous.

An autopsy is being conducted in Madison and results are expected in the next few days. Steve's parents hope that will shed some light on what happened and bring closure to their tragedy.
