Scientists with the Department of Natural Resources say a period of sustained drought is continuing to alter water levels on local lakes.
Tuesday, hundreds of people turned out for a workshop put together by the Wisconsin Association of Lakes in Minocqua.
The day long event called 'our changing lakes' focused on ways to help keep residents from altering the aqua-culture, now and in the future.
State officials say while the period of sustained drought in the Northern region continues, it's a different story to the South.
The DNR says lakes that solely rely on rainfall and precipitation are the hardest hit, with some seven to eight feet below where they should be this time of year.
