You may have noticed it's harder to find those blue mail boxes around town and technology may be to blame.
Lori Rogney the Acting Postmaster in Wausau says more people are using the internet to send emails and pay bills ... so many of the city's mailboxes aren't being used as much.
"We made the determination to eliminate some of our boxes that were being under utilized," says Rogney.
"For our area we're averaging 11% less mail going through our system so I'm so sure that's impacting the mail going into the collection boxes as well."
During the spring Rogney says the US Postal Service measured how many pieces of mail each blue box was collecting.
"There's a tub inside the box and they determine if it's 1/4 full, 1/2 full and full. A box can hold about 200 pieces or more so we're looking for a minimum of 25 pieces per box."
She says 13 collection boxes didn't have the minimum pieces of mail in them and were removed from Wausau. The city now has 35 mailboxes.
