EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) -- A former Green Bay Packer spends a night in the Eau Claire County Jail.
Ross Verba was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding on Interstate 94 near Foster Tuesday night. After Verba was identified, a state trooper checked for any outstanding warrants and found Verba was wanted for a felony from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and bad check unit of the Clark County, Nevada district attorney's office.
Verba was released after the custody hold was dropped by Nevada authorities yesterday. Jail officials say Verba apparently reached an agreement with the D.A.'s office in Nevada.
The 33-year-old Verba was the Packers' first-round draft pick in 1997 from Iowa. He played for the Packers until 2000.
