Governor Jim Doyle has appointed Ken Heimerman as Marathon County District Attorney. Heimerman will fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Jill Falstad to the Marathon County Circuit Court.
In a press release from the Governor's office, Doyle said, "Ken Heimerman has the experience necessary to be an excellent District Attorney in Marathon County. His dedication to justice for all citizens will be a great asset.”
A statement from Heimerman reads, "I am both honored and thankful to Governor Doyle for this appointment. My goal is to make Marathon County a safe place for everyone. I look forward to working with staff, law enforcement, the courts and everyone else connected to the criminal justice system."
Heimerman is a senior district attorney in Marathon County, and has served in the District Attorney's office since 1988. He currently specializes in cases involving homicide, drug offenses, or sexual assault.
Heimerman is expected to begin his duties as District Attorney in mid-July.
