A recent survey by the Central Wisconsin Economic Research Bureau shows some promising news in the way of employment.
Unemployment rates for Marathon and Wood counties dropped since last year. Marathon declined 3.1-percent and Wood, 2.1-percent.
Central Wisconsin as a whole saw no change from a year ago.
Wisconsin though went up 4.2-percent. Despite that figure, more people are finding jobs throughout the state.
Employment in Wisconsin went up 2.3-percent.
In Marathon County, that percentage went up to 3-percent. Portage County is up 1.1-percent, and Wood County, 3.3-percent.
