A judge has determined there is enough evidence for the case against a Rosholt man to head to trial.

Jeff Beckman, 51, is charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit child sexual assault, conspiracy to commit child enticement, and three counts possession of child pornography.

Beckman is accused of responding to an ad posted on Craigslist targeting child sexual assault predators.

According to the criminal complaint, the ad was posted by an undercover officer from the Brown County Sheriff's Department. According to an email conversation logged by authorities, Beckman offered to pay $60 to participate in sex acts with three children, which he were told were ages 12, 14, and 15.

Beckman was arrested at a prearranged meeting location by the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Beckman's home. According to court documents child pornography was discovered prompting additional charges.

He remains in custody on a $250,000 cash bond.

Beckman is scheduled to enter a plea to his charges during an arraignment hearing on June 9.

The cases against five men arrested during a child sex sting in late March are moving forward.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department and Wausau Police Department worked together to organized a local task force team to participate with 'Operation Vanguard'. The sting was conducted March 27 to March 29 using posts on Craigslist.

About 75 officers from at least seven agencies say a sting that targeted adults who prey on children resulted in multiples arrest, including five in Marathon County. Similar stings were also conducted in Green Bay, Appleton, Lawrence and the Oshkosh area.

Todd Jelinski, 44, of Schofield, Steve Krall, 36, of Stratford, Dennis Rice, 58, of Merrill, Peter Galioto, 19, of Wausau, and Jeffrey Beckman, 51, of Rosholt faced criminal charges as result.

The most serious charges were filed against Beckman after he's accused of replying to a Craigslist post advertising three teenage children for sale for sex.

According to the criminal complaint, the ad was posted by an undercover officer from the Brown County Sheriff's Department. According to an email conversation logged by authorities, Beckman, of Rosholt, offered to pay $60 to participate in sex acts with the children, which he were told were ages 12, 14, and 15. Beckman was arrested at a prearranged meeting location by the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

Another man charged in the sting, Dennis Rice, 58, is on paid leave from the City of Wausau. According to the city's Human Resources Department, Rice is a Public Works Equipment Operator. He is charged with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. Rice is free on a $5,000 signature bond after posting the first $1,500 in cash. He'll return to court on May 9 to learn if his case will head to trial.

Todd Jelinski, 44, of Schofield, is due back in court on June 10. That's when he'll find out if his case will head to trial. He's charged with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. He's free on a $1,500 cash bond.

Peter Galioto, 19, of Wausau, is also charged with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. He pleaded not guilty to that charge on April 30. His next court appearance has been scheduled for June 2.

Steve Krall, 36, of Stratford, is behind bars on a $2,500 cash bond. He's charged with using a computer to facilitate child sex crime and child enticement. Friday, he's expected to enter a plea to those charges.

Another man charged in the sting, Dennis Rice, 58, is on paid leave from the City of Wausau. According to the city's Human Resources Department, Rice is a Public Works
Equipment Operator. He was charged Monday with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
Rice will be released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond if he's able to post the first $1,500 in cash.

Steve Krall, 36, of Stratford, is behind bars on a $2,500 cash bond. He's charged with using a computer to facilitate child sex crime and child enticement. Krall was arrested Thursday.

All five suspects will return to court next Monday to learn if their cases will head to trial.

According to the Associated Press, a 40-year-old school bus driver from Shawano County was arrested. Shawano County Sheriff Randy Wright says he does not believe the man has had sexual contact with students from the school district where he works, but the investigation is ongoing.
