While everyone is winding down from this 4th of July weekend, many will still be sparking off fireworks through the end of summer. A lieutenant with the Wausau Fire Department wants to make sure you remember they will be watching.
Wally Olson with the Wausau Fire Department says whether you're in a rural area or the city, it's never a good idea to set off fireworks. Not only because it's illegal, it takes a trained professional along with entire departments to be on standby at a show like the one put on in Wausau last night.
"Your average person getting hold of a rocket may not know all the consequences and they could do harm to themselves or bystanders," said Lt. Wally Olson with the Wausau Fire Department.
He says if caught you could face up to 9 months in jail and a $10,000 fine.
