The DNR says it plan of disposing of a dead bear cub after it was found dead along Hwy. 52 east of Wausau Thursday morning.
Gib Ninnemann who owns the property near where it happened says the mother bear was found up in a tree in the front yard of his home.
Ninnemann says after a couple of hours, the mother climbed down the tree, checked out her baby and ran across the road after realizing it was dead.
A DNR spokesman says there have been a rise in bears making their way into the yards of residents homes.
Even though there are skid marks on the road in front of the home, officials can't say for sure if the cub was hit by a vehicle.
