A Waupaca woman could set the record books with the 485 lbs. Bear she shot south of Marion on September 6.
Laura Detert, of Marion, tells WLUK-TV , she and her husband been watching the area for the past couple weeks with some trail cameras, baiting the area on a friend’s piece of farmland in the Town of Dupont.
The couple agrees it's unsual to see a bear that large in this area.
The average weight for adult black bear males is 425 lbs. Females are typically 1/3 smaller.
The Deterts say they'll send the bear's measurements to national organizations to see where he stacks up with other record-setting bears in North America.
