Storm Damage

Severe storms that passed through Marathon and Lincoln counties Tuesday evening left behind a significant amount of damage.

Several tornados were spotted in Unity, Wausau and Mosinee, and many people are without power after strong winds knocked down power lines.

The crowds at the Wisconsin Valley Fair were evacuated and the concert planned for the evening was cancelled because of the storms.

There are also reports of trees down and property damage, but no reports of injuries.

More bad weather is expected on Wednesday, and we here at WSAW have some storm preparation tips.

Storm Preparation

Secure Outdoor Objects:
- Pool and Outdoor furniture
- Grills
- Harmless items like outdoor plants and hanging plants
Close all windows and doors:
- Intense wind can wreak havoc to unit interiors as well as common areas
- If necessary, tape you windows as well
Check all outside fixtures:
- Secure or remove loose items
- Check your drainage system (unclog all drains, water basins, and gutters
Store the following in a safe and dry place:
- First aid kit
- Drinking water
- Battery powered radio
- Battery powered flashlights
- Matches and candles
