Sergeant Ben Beaudoin with the Portage County Sheriff's Department says at about 1:30 a.m. they received a report of a one vehicle rollover crash around CTH JJ about 0.2 mile north of CTH W in the Town of Almond.
Upon arrival Sgt. Beaudoin says deputies discovered a pickup truck driven by 20-year old Callyn G. Kaehn from the Town of Almond. He was found dead at the scene. He says the northbound truck was negotiating a curve when the driver lost control and entered into a ditch. The driver then struck a fence and then overturned, coming to a rest on its roof. Further details sow the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, and was partially ejected during the crash. Sgt. Beaudion says the driver sustained very serious injuries.
It is unclear right now if alcohol was a factor in the crash. An autopsy is currently being completed by the Portage County Coroner's Office.
The Portage County Sheriff's Department would like to remind all motorists to please slow down and wear their seat belts whenever they take to the highways.
